Have a knitting machine gathering dust under your bed or in your basement? Bring it to Rhinebeck and learn how to bring it back to life!

This hands-on workshop teaches essential cleaning and maintenance techniques to help you assess your machine’s condition and prepare it for knitting.

During class you’ll learn how to:

• Evaluate your sponge bar
• Clean the needles, needle bed and carriage
• Apply proper lubrication
• Inventory your machine’s accessories
• Identify worn or missing parts
• Establish a maintenance routine for years to come

This workshop is designed for home knitting machines that are mechanically complete and suitable for basic cleaning and assessment.

After Registration

After purchasing your materials fee, you’ll be asked to complete a brief questionnaire and upload several photos of your knitting machine and accessories.

This information allows me to:

• Identify your machine model
• Prepare for the specific machines attending
• Recommend any items you should bring
• Help the workshop run as efficiently as possible

Please complete the questionnaire as soon as possible after registration.

What to Bring

Required

• Your knitting machine
• Carriage
• All accessories, tools and parts that came with your machine
• Any manuals or documentation you still have

Optional

• Apron or clothes you don’t mind getting dirty
• Pen and notebook
• Phone or camera
• Headlamp or small task light

Materials Fee Includes

Your materials fee includes a maintenance toolkit that you’ll take home after class.

The toolkit contains:

• Jars for organizing small parts
• Microfiber cleaning cloths
• Cleaning brushes
• Long-neck tweezers
• Small screwdrivers
• Nitrile gloves
• Lubricating oil
• Storage bag

Shared workshop supplies, including cleaning solutions and specialty tools, will also be available during class.
