I started hand knitting as a kid and got exposed to machine knitting while studying fashion design. I was totally overwhelmed. I’d spent years of schooling focused on cutting, sewing and the final silhouettes but machine knitting was the first time I had to make the fabric and garment. Those first (several) projects were really not great. Over the years, while working as an in-house designer and trend forecaster, I’ve continued to knit, teach and design.
I live in Cincinnati, Ohio with my dog Albus.
Since 2017 T Martin Studio (formerly known as Altis Studio) has been dedicated to inspiring the growing community of machine and hand knitters through workshops, demonstrations, original pattern designs and supplies.
A deep understanding of fashion design and garment construction is at the heart of what I do. The BEST part of designing is seeing how my idea becomes a catalyst for another person’s creativity.
